Frequently asked
The essentials. More answers on the full FAQ.
What is Bottle Hunt Ohio?
Bottle Hunt Ohio is a free, community-powered tool that helps bourbon hunters track exclusive and allocated releases across all 577 OHLQ stores. We aggregate release schedules from ohlq.com, map every store, and let hunters report real-time sightings to help each other out.
Are you affiliated with OHLQ?
No. Bottle Hunt Ohio is an independent community project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to OHLQ in any way. Product and pricing data is sourced from publicly available ohlq.com listings; we receive no funding or data feeds from OHLQ or any state agency.
Is this free to use?
Yes. Browsing the map, calendar, and sightings is free and requires no account. Creating a free account lets you report sightings, build a hunt list, and set up email alerts. Donations are entirely optional and help keep the lights on.
How do sightings work?
Sightings are real-time bottle reports submitted by other hunters. When you spot a bottle on a shelf, you submit it via Report — store, product, time — and it appears on the public feed within seconds so other hunters can plan around it. The more people report what they see, the more useful the feed becomes for everyone.
How accurate is the inventory data?
Product catalog and pricing come from ohlq.com and are refreshed regularly. Sightings and delivery days are community-reported and are only as accurate as what people submit. Inventory moves fast — especially allocated bottles — so a sighting confirms a bottle was spotted, not that it's still on the shelf.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes — the site is mobile-first and installs as a Progressive Web App. Add it to your home screen on iOS or Android for an app-like experience with offline support on the Map and Hunt List.
How do I get alerts for specific bottles?
Sign in, add bottles to your hunt list, and turn on the weekly email digest under Account → Alerts. Sent every Sunday, it rounds up new releases, sightings at your favorite stores, and restocks on your watched products — it's the only email we send today. Instant per-event email alerts aren't sending yet, push notifications are not active yet, and SMS alerts for Founding Supporters are waiting on Twilio carrier approval (A2P 10DLC).
